July 2006 Weddings

i think the time has come to close this community. not much to talk about anymore, now that it's more than 1 1/2 years out from our weddings. unless someone has a great idea of something to do with this community, i'm cool just closing up shop! let me know...

July 2006 Weddings

[Current Mood |weirdweird]

Our good friend Eric is going to take pictures of me trashing my wedding dress! I'm not quite sure where or when just yet, but he's a great photographer and he has a camera that makes me insane with jealousy.

And, I want to thank phrassie for giving me the idea!

I'm excited!!!!

Anniversary weekend :) [Jul. 24th, 2007|10:57 am]
July 2006 Weddings

We kicked off our anniversary weekend on Friday with a trip to the grocery store to pick up a bunch of junk food goodies that we normally don't allow ourselves. We got donuts, bacon, chocolate, beer, and other good stuff. We also got maple candy, courtesy of Eric's parents and brother. Then we watched Heartbreakers, which was the movie we saw on our first date more than six years ago. This time it was very much improved by the addition of beer (we weren't nearly old enough for it at the time).

Saturday was a stunningly beautiful day: warm but not hot, blue skies, light breeze, the works. We slept in and then went out to the lake for a picnic. And of course, no one wants to cook on their anniversary weekend, so we brought fast food (yum Taco Bell). Shhh, it's my kind of picnic. We played frisbee for a little while, and then came home and got dolled up for dinner at ZaZas Cucina. Then we went over to Hangar Theater and saw Beauty and the Beast. It was a great day, very relaxing, low-key and tons of fun. :D

Sunday was our 1st Anniversary, we had a lounge day. Mostly we played video games (we are WoW people). At 5:00pm, which would be 2:00pm in CA where we got married (i.e. exactly a year after our wedding), we sat down to watch our wedding video. Although we didn't save any of our cake, we did save a bottle of the champagne we had at the wedding, and we opened it to have throughout the evening. :) It was definitely just in time, it would not have kept much longer. :P

Anniversary [Jul. 24th, 2007|12:38 am]
July 2006 Weddings

Our anniversary was about a week ago.

He had bought my anniversary gift when we went on vacation to San Francisco (a gorgeous red silk corset). I bought him tickets for us to see Wicked when it comes to Boston this fall. One of our readings at our wedding was from Wicked and he actually really has wanted to see it. We're not so into traditional gifts and stuff.

We did not eat cake, although his parents apparently had frozen some for us. When they told us about it, we were disgusted and told them to eat it because we weren't touching it. We thought about getting a small cake of the same kind from the same bakery but ended up going to a dessert place after dinner instead. We did dinner at an upscale steak restaurant, which both of us enjoyed.

We thought about doing a mini trip, but we just went on vacation, and the idea of staying at a hotel was nice, but we decided to stay home instead.

Our first year was rough (I commented on someone else's post about it) but things are heading in the right direction. Hopefully in a month or two we'll start trying for a baby :)

my anniversary! [Jul. 23rd, 2007|06:46 pm]
July 2006 Weddings

our little anniversary getaway was perfect. it was just what we needed.

we started the day off with some anniversary cake for breakfast. heh. our friend made us the exact same kind she made for our wedding. much yummier than year-old cake, i tell you what.

we exchanged gifts also. david got me a funny card:

it is indeed the "paper" anniversary, so we got each other paper gifts. i got him a nice leather bound journal, and he got me 2 books (a dr. laura one i wanted, and a sex-position-a-day book. heh)

then we headed off to see harry potter, and then we had vietnamese food for lunch. after lunch we drove out to bodega bay.

let me tell you... we had the BEST luck with weather last year. it was perfect & sunny for our wedding. but not so this year. it was foggy and cold! but that's fine, cuz i wasn't wearing a thin white dress this year. ;)

we checked into the B&B, and were pleasantly surprised with all the accommodations. check it out:

lots of pictures!Collapse )

we settled into our room and proceeded to take a nap! hahaha. it was lovely. we woke up ready for dinner so we headed off.

more photos!Collapse )

after breakfast we went to the crab shack and bought some crab cocktail, and then we drove back to our hometown and ran some errands. and ate more cake. ;)

ok, your turns! post about your anniversaries!

(can anyone tell i'm trying not to let this community die right away? i figure after we've all posted about our 1st anniversaries, i can let it go. but first i want to hear your stories!!)

anniversary time! [Jul. 3rd, 2007|09:22 am]
July 2006 Weddings

don't forget to post about your 1 year anniversaries this month!

congratulations to all of you, hope you had a great first year. mine was a bit bumpy (which surprised me because we'd been together 4 years before getting married) but we're still going strong. :)

Wedding Albums [Jun. 25th, 2007|10:05 am]
July 2006 Weddings

For those of you who have looked into wedding albums...or those who have already gotten their wedding albums, did you get to choose what color of album you wanted?  I've got a couple of different options for the album color - like white, off white, navy blue, burgundy, just to name a few....)  And then I can choose between white pages, or black pages.

Just wondering what you all found looked good, didn't look good.  My photographer commented that he likes the way the dark pages look with the pictures...But the dark pages don't go well with the off-white albums.  If anyone here is married, and has a picture of their album - please share!

Paper? [Jun. 11th, 2007|08:00 am]
July 2006 Weddings

Yay for fun trips! I wanted to make another post because I don't think we will be able to get away this year...so I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for just gifts? First anniversary is paper, I guess. I was really hoping to go to the city (NY), and then obviously the tickets make a cute "paper" gift. But I don't think work will allow that. Anyone have creative suggestions?

anniversaries! [Jun. 10th, 2007|08:44 pm]
July 2006 Weddings

Our 1 year anniversaries are coming up! Mine's about a month away, some of you have less than a month, of of you a little more. Anyone have any good plans yet?

I decided we should continue the tradition we've had of going to "our beach" for our anniversaries (we went there each year, he proposed on year 3 and we got married on year 4!) So about a month ago, I booked a room at a B&B style hotel in Bodega Bay, which is the town we got married in. One of our guests stayed at this hotel and it was only a short walk to our beach! I ended up using their room to get ready in, and it was nicer there than in our wedding night suite!

I booked a different room than they had. If you click here, it's the top left room, called "dune grass". I thought it looked wedding-y.

Other plans for the anniversary include a matinée of the Harry Potter movie, because it comes out on July 13th and we're big Harry Potter nerds. We'll probably also have dinner at a nice place in Bodega and spend most of our time lounging on the beach. We'll only be gone monday night until tuesday morning, as we have weekend jobs (i'm a wedding planner, he's a DJ). I think it will be nice, low-key, and romantic.

Let's hear about your plans!
